NWP Spectrum opens UK Airport's largest Internet Lounge


July 22, 2004 -- NWP Spectrum have opened what is believed to be the UK's largest Airport Internet Lounge in Newcastle Airport's new airside terminal. The 100m sq Internet Lounge offers a wide range of internet services including Cyber-Desks, WiFi and Modem Dial-up access for laptop users, as well as a Digital Photo Centre enabling instant photos from a digital camera.

Nigel Dolby, Newcastle Airport's Commercial Manager said "We have been very impressed with NWP Spectrum and they have delivered what they promised - a high impact Internet Lounge full of the latest services available. Service levels are important to the Airport, and NWP Spectrum are providing strong support services with this deal. The lounge is already well used, and I'm looking forward to printing off my holiday photos when I get a chance!"

NWP Spectrum has secured a 10 year contract with the airport, providing Payphones, Internet Kiosks and WiFi access throughout the terminals and the Internet Lounge.

Spectrum's interactive division NWP Interactive, has internet kiosks and desks throughout the UK, predominately at key travel locations. Daniel Gray NWP Interactive's Chief Operating Officer added, "this launch reinforces our position as the UK Airports market leader in Internet Access. The Spectrum Internet Lounge is the largest of its type in a UK airport. We have worked hard to develop our offering and this is our first Airport installation enabling instant photos printed from a digital camera via our new Digital Photo Centre kiosk".

Spectrum's expertise, built up over 14 years, is in managing remote terminals, innovation and in developing flexible, commercially beneficial customer relationships. In the UK Spectrum supply to over 450 customers in markets as diverse as universities, hospitals, cinemas, holiday camps, military bases and airports. Around 7,200 payphones and 280 Internet Kiosks / Desks have been installed in airports, hotels, motorway services, bus and train stations and shopping centres. The company also has a fast growing subsidiary business in Germany.

Spectrum are now extending their public internet service to encompass a WiFi capability for laptop and PDA users , often combined with the NWP Cyber-Desk to create a communications area within a busy site. WiFi access has also been enabled from London and Hamburg street payphone kiosks.
